Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede and The Dollywood Company donate $500,000 to make the new Pigeon Forge Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains a reality.

Dixie Stampede and The Dollywood Company each donated $250,000 toward the project during the groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility on Thursday afternoon.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains has received an outpouring of support from the local community, but the donations from Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede and The Dollywood Company helped push the Club beyond its goal of raising $2 million for the new facility.

Jim Rule, Dixie Stampede President, and Jamie Parish, Dixie Stampede General Manager, joined Craig Ross, The Dollywood Company President, and Gene Scherrer, Dollywood General Manager, in making the donation during the ceremony.

Rule said,

“The Boys & Girls Club is an amazing example of an organization which makes a profound impact on the community it serves. This donation is to benefit an organization that provides wonderful services to our hosts’ families and is integral to the quality of life here in Pigeon Forge.”

Dolly’s Dixie Stampede presents Christmas at Dixie with new sights and sounds

For many, visiting the Great Smoky Mountains during the holiday season is a family tradition. Dolly’s hometown will transform into a dazzling masterpiece as it comes to life with five million twinkling lights. This year, Dixie Stampede guests are in for a special treat as Christmas at Dixie will transport them from one treasured Christmas scene to another. Dolly said,

“I’m more excited than ever for Christmas and can’t wait to share our new adventure with everyone. Thanks to all of the exciting changes we’ve made, we hope this year’s Christmas show will leave our guests with more Christmas spirit than ever before.”

Christmas at Dixie includes a LIVE Nativity scene, reminding guests of the reason for the season, as Mary and Joseph watch over their newborn child, Jesus, while wise men riding camels are led to the stable by a bright and shining star.

From the moment guests arrive, they will be greeted by all-new Christmas decorations illuminating the grounds of Dixie Stampede and creating a world of twinkling lights. Spokesperson for Dixie Stampede, Woody Peek said,

“Our creative team is already in the Christmas spirit hard at work combining our new and advanced technical elements with the timeless Christmas traditions our guests have grown to love.”

Annual “Whoadeo” event at Dixie Stampede supports Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and celebrates the joy of reading

Families are invited to Dixie Stampede in Branson, MO, to a free, fun-filled day of games, face painting, animal exhibitions, giveaways and more. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will come to life at the annual stick horse rodeo and family fun day, Saturday, October 3. This is a free event designed to celebrate the joy of reading among families while children enjoy riding stick horses “rodeo style” in the Dixie Stampede performance arena. Dolly said,

“My Imagination Library ‘Whoadeo’ is a fun event for all ages. There’s nothing better for a child’s mind than reading, so it is my hope that with each book, the child will dream more, learn more, care and be more.”

“Whoadeo” will showcase kids’ events including Barrel Racing, Obstacle Course, and Bucking Horse competition, astride some of the wildest steeds in the stable. They will compete on a stick horse as they race around barrels, jump over obstacles and try their best not to get “bucked” off their horse. It’s Dolly’s true belief that all children are winners, so medals will be awarded to every kid who participates. Dixie Stampede will provide stick horses or children may bring their own.

All proceeds from Dixie Stampede Dinner & Show performance that evening, Saturday, October 3, will be donated to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book-gifting program that mails free, age-appropriate books to children from birth to age five. To date, the organization has sent over 71 million free books to children in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. Here in Missouri, there are 37 Imagination Library affiliate communities with 14,012 children enrolled in the program.

Fans are in for a treat as they will get to enjoy Dixie Stampede’s All New Adventure along with special appearances by two of gospel music’s top artists. Each of these NQC shows begins at 2:15 p.m. in the Dixie Belle Saloon with a performance by Dixie Stampede’s bluegrass band, Mountain Ruckus. Guests then enter the main arena where the gospel show featuring both quartets will take place at 3:00 p.m., followed by Dixie Stampede’s main show and traditional four-course family feast at 3:30 p.m. Woody Peek, spokesperson for Dixie Stampede said,

“This has been an exciting year for Dixie Stampede and having the National Quartet Convention back again fuels even more excitement.”

Peek went on to say,

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase both of these talented quartets for each show. We strongly encourage everyone that attended the NQC show last year to come back and experience our new adventure at Dixie Stampede.
