The Country Fair at Dollywood opens 10 new rides for kids and families

Following a 3.5-acre expansion project, Country Fair, one of Dollywood’s most popular areas, welcomed 10 new family rides in celebration of the park’s 20th anniversary season. Dolly wanted to add rides for guests of all ages in the expansion.

New rides included the Lucky Ducky, Busy Bees and the bouncing Piggy Parade, all designed for small children. The expansion also included the Waltzing Swinger, the Amazing Flying Elephants and the Dizzy Disk along with more.  These new rides increased the popular Country Fair area’s hourly capacity by more than 2,000 passengers.

Dolly adds 10 new Dollywood family rides to her Smoky Mountain theme park

Dollywood announced plans to expand its Country Fair area inside the park to include 10 new rides and a new look for the 2005 season. The emphasis of the expansion focused on family rides.

The Country Fair area already is one of the most popular areas within Dollywood. The expansion increased the area’s capacity by more than 2,000 passengers an hour. The rides include a mix of traditional favorites and unique experiences new to the industry. A 70-foot-tall airplane-style ride allowed passengers to create their own flight experience. Other themed rides offered twists, turns, spins and dips. Most allowed parents and children to experience the ride together.

Dolly believed in providing a park the whole family can enjoy. The new Dollywood family rides featured several attractions specifically designed for small children.

Dolly’s version of the perfect country fair comes to life permanently at Dollywood

No summer is complete without going to the fair and that’s why Dolly created the Country Fair at Dollywood. The Country Fair area opened, adding a new feature to Dollywood's skyline, the 60-foot Wonder Wheel ferris wheel. Dolly wanted every child to be as excited about the Country Fair at Dollywood as she was about the county fair when she was young.

“As a little girl, I couldn't wait for the county fair to come to town every year. Everybody got excited about the rides on the midway. I called on those memories when I created the Country Fair area.”

Other popular modern-day midway rides were added, including the Tennessee Twister (also known as the Tilt-a-Whirl) and Twist and Shout (also known as the Scrambler). Nostalgia-themed additions included old-time games and a variety of "blue ribbon" foods to complete the fair experience.
