Released in 1977, "New Harvest...First Gathering" was Dolly's first effort at self-producing an album, her first time aiming specifically at the pop charts and the first project recorded in both Nashville and Los Angeles.
Dolly was nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Female Country Vocal for "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher."
The album topped the U.S. Billboard Top Country Charts becoming her first No. 1 album and reached No. 71 on the U.S. Billboard 200.
