Dolly delighted guests as she kicked off Dollywood’s 2014 Festival of Nations by making appearances at the festival’s headlining shows, "Mother Africa" and "La Danza de Colombia." Dressed in traditional outfits with special Dolly flair, she showed her passion for bringing international experiences to her hometown and to Dollywood.
An international perspective has always been important to Dolly and at Dollywood’s 2013 Festival of Nations, she was able to take guests on a trip around the world thanks to international shows, foods and crafts! Dolly delighted guests as she made surprise visits during the opening performances of the headlining shows, "Cirque Shanghai" and "Mystic India."
As Dolly opened Dollywood for its 28th season, she announced the addition of a new festival, Great American Summer, along with new shows and a lot more family time! Dolly "made time for happy" during her appearances, as she dropped in on shows throughout the park and took a tour of the park to greet all the guests.
Dolly visited Dollywood to kick off one of its biggest seasons to date, beginning with Festival of Nations and the opening of Wild Eagle, America’s first wing coaster. The festival’s headlining show, "Spirit of the Dance," surprised guests on opening weekend with a walk-on from Dolly herself! Dolly also appeared in two of the festival’s other shows, Argentina’s "Los Pampas Gauchos" and "The Paper Show by Mimirichi" from Ukraine.
The Dollywood 2012 season received five Golden Ticket Awards for Best Food, Friendliest Park, Best New Ride (Wild Eagle), Best Shows and Best Christmas Event.
The fifth annual Festival of Nations kicked off the 20th anniversary season at Dolly's Smoky Mountain theme park. Dollywood's six-week multicultural celebration featured music, dance, art and food from 10 countries. The Moscow Circus headlined this year's festival bringing the pageantry of 25 aerialists, singers, gymnasts, contortionists, clowns and folk musicians.
Other first-time Festival of Nations performers include the Russian Academic Band jazz band, a cappella children's choir Zambian Vocal Collection, Noticky, a children's ensemble and Ondras, a folk singer/dancer ensemble from the Czech Republic.
