Dolly’s love for kids is shown again in 2012 with Dollywood's Kidsfest, headlined by Chris Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience. Dolly said,
“Like so many folks, I’m just a huge dog lover. I truly believe they are man—and woman’s—best friends, and I couldn't be happier about giving families a show that goes ‘dog wild’ at my Kidsfest celebration this summer at Dollywood. Our four-legged friends are going to put smiles on everybody’s faces and warm some hearts, too.”
Kidsfest at Dollywood also included "The Gazillion Bubbles Show," an unbelievable display of bubble magic, and Dolly's Imagination Playhouse in which Dolly stars in each show, making a special appearance via the magic screen performing songs she wrote especially for the productions.
With another summer on the horizon, Dolly found just the thing for families visiting her theme park: Merlin Award-winning magicians The Fercos Brothers! The talented illusionists headlined Dollywood’s KidsFest with a show featuring exotic cats and a variety of extravagant magic acts. Dolly said,
"'Big Cats & Magic' is the purr-fect show to entertain families at Dollywood’s KidsFest. When the Fercos Brothers make those big cats start disappearing, the fur’s sure to fly as folks think their eyes are playing tricks on them!"
KidsFest is a fun summer tradition at Dollywood.
Dollywood's KidsFest welcomed a brand-new lineup of superstar children’s characters to headline its seven-week summer festival during Dolly’s park’s 20th anniversary. Dolly said,
“I’m just a big kid at heart, and I believe that having fun is the best way to spark a child’s imagination, and I hope we can ignite that spark in each and every guest at KidsFest.”
This year’s festival featured Clifford the Big Red Dog™, Mad Science® Movie Magic—the Science Behind the Movies and some of Nickelodeon’s® most popular characters like SpongeBob SquarePants™. In addition to these favorite children’s characters, KidsFest also included Dolly’s Imagination Playhouse featuring the Penguin Players.
The largest kids’ festival in the South returned just as kids got out of school for the summer. Dolly said,
“Growing up, summertime in the Smoky Mountains was just one adventure-filled day after another for my brothers and sisters and me. KidsFest is my way of sharing special Smoky Mountain adventures with kids of all ages while they explore all of the fun activities that Dollywood has to offer.”
The VeggieTales® live show was a favorite at the park. Dollywood also welcomed several new faces including a costumed bear show. Clay, a seven-and-a-half-year-old black bear, played guitar. Griz, a 12-year-old grizzly bear, was the drummer. Ice, an 18-year-old polar bear, played keyboard and Rae Ling, a 10-year-old panda, sang. The band performed in Craftsman’s Valley.
The festival was filled with more animal antics. Families fell in love with seven performing dogs with acts ranging from flying disc catches to jumping rope and dancing!
Dolly and Dollywood celebrate children with the kickoff of the park’s newest festival, KidsFest. Dolly’s love for kids and her love of entertainment mixed to create this unique summer festival including, VeggieTales®, Garfield’s® 25th Anniversary Birthday Party, the Purina® Dog Chow® Incredible Dog Team and ASA Extreme Sports Shows. These exciting acts and more made the South’s largest children’s festival. The kid-friendly environment was filled with shows kids were delighted to see all summer long!
