Dolly releases fifth solo album, “The Fairest of Them All,” in February 1970
Longtime friend and assistant, Judy Ogle, contributed the liner notes to Dolly’s 1970 release, “The Fairest of Them All.” Judy wrote,
“…Sometimes it’s hard to believe that any one person was born with all the good qualities that Dolly Parton has. She believes strongly in life and nature, looks deep inside others for only the good, but she accepts the bad as well. She has a clear understanding of life and is always sincere and affectionate to those around her… Dolly is a happy person with a great love for life. She always has a warm, genuine smile which she is willing to share with everyone. Those are but a few of the things that make Dolly ‘The Fairest of Them All.'”
While it climbed to No. 13 on the U.S. Top Country Albums chart, it also further cemented Dolly’s place as a songwriter as she wrote or co-wrote all 11 songs on the album.
Dolly’s original song, “Daddy Come and Get Me” reached No. 40 on the US Country Singles Chart.
