Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort construction tour gives fans their first look inside

New renderings revealed during the Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort construction tour feature the resort’s outdoor pool which fits right in with its already beautiful Smoky Mountains' surroundings. The nearly 4,000 square foot pool meanders through a lushly landscaped pool deck and provides families with a refreshing retreat.

In addition to the pool, there’s an interactive family splash pad for more water play. Details like the pool patio are not forgotten—while sunbathers can soak in rays, landscaping also provides shady spots throughout the area so the experience is enjoyable for everyone.

The construction tour participants were also among the first to see a sneak peek of some of the resort’s interior amenities in-the-works, including the indoor pool, grand lobby and guest rooms.

Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort tops out, reaching important construction milestone

Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort tops out, reaching another major milestone. During this traditional "Topping Out" construction celebration, the resort’s highest point was installed. Construction crews lowered the final element of Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort's three iconic spires. These spires completed the resort’s outside profile. This ceremony brought  the resort one step closer to making Dolly’s dream a reality.

Dollywood's DreamMore Resort will partner with the International Storytelling Center upon opening in summer 2015

Just as Dolly has fostered a love for stories and reading among younger generations in the United States and many other countries, the International Storytelling Center showcases the power of storytelling through entertainment, history, culture, knowledge and, most importantly, dreaming.

Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort is proud to announce a partnership with the International Storytelling Center to help bring the beauty of storytelling to our front porch, fire pits and more.

Contents of Dolly's Dream Box for Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort revealed

Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort was driven by Dolly’s dream to create a place where families can reconnect. To honor her dreams and the people who made them possible, Dolly created a Dream Box which will remain locked until 2045. Visiting families can see Dolly’s Dream Box on display at the resort.

“My resort is a dream 30 years in the making, and the items I picked for my Dream Box are closely tied to special people who encouraged me and certain events in my life where that encouragement paid off,”

said Dolly.

Dolly’s Dream Box contains:

  1. A copy of her 2012 book "Dream More: Celebrate the Dreamer in You" which expands on the popular 2009 commencement speech that Dolly delivered at the University of Tennessee.
  2. A piece of wood from Dolly’s Tennessee Mountain Home’s front porch, a favorite gathering spot for her family and where she sang as a child growing up in the Smoky Mountains.
  3. A song written by Dolly for the future to be released in 2045 that shares her hopes and dreams for the future.
  4. A sealed mystery box made of chestnut, the contents of which are known only to Dolly and are to remain unopened until 2045. The box honors Dolly’s Uncle Bill Owens who, early on, recognized his niece’s talents and helped her career take flight. Owens’ work with the American Chestnut Foundation helped develop a blight-resistant American chestnut tree, restoring it to the woodlands of the Eastern U.S.

Dolly participates in a traditional ceremony to bless the site of Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort

In keeping with Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort's close ties to the land in the Smoky Mountains, Dolly welcomed Dollywood theme park’s Chaplain Joey Buck and the Beloved Man of the Cherokee Nation Elder Jerry Wolfe to a special ceremony on May 2, 2014. Buck presided over a blessing of the resort followed by a traditional Native American smudging by Wolfe.

Dollywood's DreamMore Resort will celebrate the iconic Southern gathering spot, beckoning to a time when families and friends sipped iced tea, enjoyed homemade ice cream and socialized. Centered on the rich traditions of storytelling, family and togetherness, the resort will feature many special touches including family sanctuaries like fire pits, swings and hammocks plus story spots scattered throughout the grounds.
