Dolly On “Larry King Now”

Dolly welcomes Larry King to her Nashville Studio to talk about her new album, songwriting, her 50-year marriage and much more!

In promoting her new “Pure & Simple” album, Dolly Parton sat down with award-winning television and radio host, Larry King.

Watch to see what Dolly says about accepting people as they are, the possibility of a woman president, the newly released “Trio” project, reuniting with her “9 to 5” co-stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, the strangest fan experience she has ever had and more. Near the end, Dolly and Larry also play a revealing game of  “If You Only Knew.”

When asked about her career and the possibility of slowing down, Dolly explained her work as a “lifestyle.” Dolly said,

“I’m like my Daddy, I still feel like I need to be workin’ for a living. I can’t just lay around.”

Larry got a big laugh out of Dolly when he pitched her a song lyric that he thinks can be the next big hit. Larry sang,

“I would rather be homeless than be home with you.”

The episode is filled with Dolly’s classic one-liners including her response to a question about exercise from a fan on social media. Dolly said,

“Oh yeah! I’m big on exercise. Every day I do my diddly squats.”

16th Annual Festival Of Nations At Dollywood

Dollywood’s Festival of Nations kicks off March 19, with more than two dozen countries represented!

Dollywood will kick off the park’s 31st season on March 19, with Festival of Nations presented by Humana. Now in its 16th season, the annual festival features two popular returning acts as well as several all-new performances.

Representing Ecuador, Atahualpa combines native Incan instruments with contemporary backups to celebrate the history and culture of the Andes Mountains. Vadim Kolpakov leads Via Romen in presenting traditional and modern European and Russian-Romani (Gypsy) music. Celtic Coast features original music and traditional tunes inspired by the diverse musical heritage of Nova Scotia, Canada. Other artists appearing hail from Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, China and many more. Dolly said,

“Festival of Nations truly is a special time of year at my Dollywood. I’ve been lucky enough to experience the great entertainment and cultures of countries all over the world. I’m so proud to bring these amazing performers to Dollywood so they can share their tremendous talents with all our guests.”

Returning acts include park favorites Mother Africa and Los Pampas Gauchos from Argentina.

In addition to world-class entertainment offered to guests of Festival of Nations, Dollywood has cooked up some of the most diverse dishes from around the world. A myriad of exotic recipes, available throughout the park, sends guests’ taste buds on a trip during each visit to Dollywood’s award-winning food locations.

Guests can find hibachi teriyaki chicken and vegetables from Japan, beef lo mein and egg noodles from China, classic flatbreads from Greece and Italy, tacos with Colombian pork or Mexican shredded beef and much more. For those with a sweet tooth, delectable delights from around the world are available, including various crepes from France, England and Belgium.

Talk show and radio host, Andy Cohen visited Dollywood for a SiriusXM Town Hall featuring Dolly Parton. Before the candid interview, he toured Dolly’s Chasing Rainbows museum inside the park and shared a photo on Instagram of his favorite Dolly costumes. He also presented Dolly with two baskets filled with books to honor her book gifting organization, Imagination Library.

Andy helped field questions from the audience and chatted with Dolly about her husband, upcoming tour, movies and a variety of other topics.

Dolly Parton’s 31st Annual Homecoming Parade

From high atop the new Lumberjack Adventure float, Dolly Parton waved to an estimated crowd of over 50,000 in Pigeon Forge and over 1/4 million fans on Facebook.

For the 31st year in a row, Dolly Parton greeted adoring fans as the Grand Marshal of the Annual Dolly Homecoming Parade in Pigeon Forge, TN. She led the way on her new Lumberjack Adventure float in her spectacular Dolly-inspired lumberjack outfit.

People lined the streets waiting to catch a glimpse of the hometown girl now an entertainment icon. They also tuned in to the LIVE Facebook broadcast for a bird’s eye view of everything going on, and going on it was! Following Dolly on the Lumberjack Adventure float was the ever-popular Dixie Stampede float, the Sevier County Marching Band performing some of Dolly’s hits and much more. The parade down the Parkway included several lavish floats, entertainers, bands, Veterans and performers.

At the time of this article the Facebook video (below) had reached an audience of more than 4.2 million.

Dolly will return to Pigeon Forge, TN on Nov. 15 for a special performance at LeConte Center. The concert is part of her Pure & Simple tour covering 60 cities across the United States and Canada. Proceeds from the Pigeon Forge concert will benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
