Dolly’s Imagination Playhouse brings the joy of reading to life at Dollywood

Dolly’s Imagination Playhouse, featuring the Penguin Players, brings many of the classic children's books from her Imagination Library to life. The first production was of "The Little Engine that Could," Dolly’s personal favorite and the first book mailed to children in the program.

When Penguin Books, longtime partners of Dolly’s Imagination Library, asked Dolly to find a way to bring some of their classic children’s books to life she had no choice but to accept,

“Well, you can’t say no to a penguin! So we created my Playhouse to share the magic of these books.”

Dolly created her  Imagination Library to bring a love of reading to children throughout Tennessee, the United States, and the world.

Children visiting Dollywood can now see performances of the Playhouse daily throughout the summer and the Playhouse also takes its show on the road performing for kids all over Tennessee (over 4,000 kids have seen the shows across the state).
